On Mandela Day, we handed out products to different CSI projects like Bet-El Revival Centre, Joykids International (NPC), Sewende Laan Soup Kitchen and Shekinah Soup Kitchen. We are proud to announce that Woodlands Dairy has been named the winner in the Responsible Packaging Design category at the 2025 Petco Awards for our ECO+ tethered cap innovation.

At first glance, it may seem like a small change, but to us, it represents something far greater. Our tethered cap design, launched on our First Choice Extended Shelf Life milk cartons, reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainable, responsible packaging. This design is one more way we are choosing good for people, for the planet, and for the future.

The CueCap Eco+ is made from 100% renewable materials and weighs up to 30% less than conventional caps. The design ensures the cap stays attached to the carton—reducing the risk of litter and making the entire pack easier to recycle. Already widely used in Europe, this innovation is now part of our local offering, as we lead the way in future-fit packaging in South Africa.

As South Africa’s first dairy producer to introduce tethered caps, we are proud to set a new benchmark for responsible packaging in the local market. This initiative is part of our broader sustainability strategy, one rooted in circular design, renewable materials and environmental stewardship. It reflects a mindset that sees every element of our packaging not as waste but as a resource to be reused, reimagined or reduced.

We are grateful to Petco for recognising our efforts and their continued leadership in driving sustainable packaging practices across South Africa. Woodlands Dairy has made significant investments in infrastructure to enhance sustainability and efficiency. Soetbrood: for when you need to add something sweet to impress your guests.🧈🍞🧡

SOETBROOD

Ingredients:
*1 pack dough (store-bought)
* 250ml First Choice Cream
* 3 Tbsp Brown sugar
* 1 Tbsp First Choice Butter

Directions:
1. Grease the casserole dish.
2. Sprinkle 2 Tbsp of brown sugar evenly across the bottom of the dish.
3. Roll the dough into small balls and place them close together in the casserole dish.
4. Cover the dish with a clean cloth and let the dough rise for about 10 minutes.
5. Preheat your oven to 150°C.
6. Pour the cream evenly over the dough balls. Sprinkle another Tbsp of brown sugar over the top.
7. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 50 minutes. For the final 10–15 minutes, increase the oven temperature to 180°C to create a golden, caramelised top.

Serve and Enjoy: Let the bread cool slightly before serving warm.
